Walt Cassidy has lived many lives. In the nineties, he was Waltpaper, a notorious New York City Club Kid. A School of Visual Arts student by day, he would transform himself into the characters from his paintings to prowl the clubs by night. From an early age, Walt was an integral part of a vibrant creative community that flourished at clubs like Building, The Limelight, Palladium, and Tunnel.
Now, Walt is a multi-media artist and designer. He creates jewelry that is coveted by editors at Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Harper’s Bazaar. He is also a painter, photographer, muralist and is creating his own denim line. Through it all, Walt focuses on embracing change and following the thread of his creative consciousness.
In this micro-doc, we sit down with Walt Cassidy in his Brooklyn studio/apartment to talk about creativity, group etiquette and why all scenes must die.
